SCHOLARS ACADEMIC FORUM-MEMPHIS 2008
This year the COGIC Scholars Academic Forum
will be in session during the O.T. Jones
Sr. Memorial Education Institute. I would
like to extend an invitation to all to come
and be a part of this exciting group composed
of pastors, missionaries, seminarians, and
academics. Again, we will be meeting on
Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 10:00am
to 12pm. On Wednesday, November 5th, Dr.
Jamal-Dominique Hopkins, assistant professor
of New Testament at the Interdenominational
Theological Center will be presenting “Ancient
Communities and Modern Movements: Schisms
Among the Religious Faithful.” On
Thursday, November 6th, we will hear from
Elder Mack Mason as he presents from his
latest book written on the life and ministry
of his grandfather, the late Bishop John
O. Mason, entitled, Bishop John O. Mason
on Heaven’s Railway:
The Making of a Bishop and his Contributions
to the History of The Church of God in Christ.
On Saturday, November 8th Sister Regina
Glaspie will present on the Saints and Healthy
Marriage Project followed by Sister Sandra
Williams presenting on the ministry of Mother
Vera Boykin of St. Louis, MO from the book
she coauthored And Ye Shall Receive Power:
The Spiritual Life of Vera Boykin, Her Life,
Letters and Sermons. At the end of each
session, there will be an opportunity to
meet and greet the authors, purchase a copy
of their book, and have it autographed.
Members and friends of COGIC Scholars are
invited to come and be a part of these highly
informative and thought-provoking sessions.
